Class 1. Most productive vegetable plot/garden. The Fred Probert
Challenge Cup.
Judges will be seeking variety & continuity of produce as well as quality & quantity.
Class 2. Most interesting/beautiful container display.
Class 3. Most imaginative way of disguising an ugly garden
necessity with plants.
(eg bin, concrete shed, breeze block wall)
Class 4. Four photographs of your garden at different times of year,
weather or lighting conditions.
Judges will be looking at the quality of the photographs as well as the plants & gardening depicted.

Supporting photographs of an entry at its best may also be supplied.


Closing date for entries: Friday 26th June 2026
Judging will take place between 6th & 10th July

Results will be displayed on Show Day, Saturday 1st August 2026
Prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in all classes. Kindly sponsored by Abergavenny Garden Centre

The Plant Sale at Llanvihangel Court on 4th May was a huge success and raised a large amount of money for Garden Club funds. Members gave generously of their time and and donated hundreds of lovely good quality plants.

Garden Club Events

Wednesday 10th June: Visit to Rhodd’s Farm near Kington.

Friday 3rd July: Members’ Evening at Glebe House, Llanvair Kilgeddin courtesy of Joanna Kerr

Tuesday 21st July: Visits to Damson Farm near Batheaston & Iford Manor.

Thursday 6th August 10am: Visit to Horatio’s Garden at Llandough Hospital

All visits need to be pre-booked through Hannah McCarthy. They are self-drive with as much car sharing as possible. In all cases we will be given a guided tour with owners/head gardeners. Refreshments provided. MORE DETAILS ON THE VISITS PAGE.

OTHER LOCAL EVENTS OF INTEREST

Cantref Open Gardens in Abergavenny will be on Sunday 14 June from 11-5.30 raising money for Target Ovarian Cancer. 15 gardens open.
